چکیده

As a consequence of the aperture problem, when a moving sine-grating is viewed through an aperture, the perceived motion is ambiguous. However, when we superimpose two of this gratings, the resulting pattern usually moves in a coherent way. But crossed gratings do not always cohere into a single moving pattern. It has been shown that the orientation, speed, contrast and spatial frequency of each plaid are parameters that influence the perception of coherence. We have studied the stimulus conditions under which coherence does and does not occur, using human observers who assigned a probability of coherence to each sequence of images. We then tried to find a computational method whose result would correlate with the results from the human observers. The proposed method consists on computing the optical flow field on the image sequence, using then the direction of the optical flow in each point on the image to build an histogram. This histogram can provide information about the probability of coherence of the image sequences. If the histogram presents two well marked peaks this corresponds to the situation where we perceive transparency of motion. On the other hand when we perceive coherence the corresponding histogram presents only one peak. The width of this peak is related with the probability of coherence, i.e., the narrower the peak the highest the probability of coherence. We show that the proposed method provides results very similar to the ones obtained with the human observers in terms of probability of coherence.

Computation Optical Flow Using Pipeline Architecture

Accurate estimation of motion from time-varying imagery has been a popular problem in vision studies, This information can be used in segmentation, 3D motion and shape recovery, target tracking, and other problems in scene analysis and interpretation. We have presented a dynamic image model for estimating image motion from image sequences, and have shown how the solution can be obtained from a ...

INSTITUT FÜR INFORMATIK UND PRAKTISCHE MATHEMATIK Multiple Motion Analysis Using 3D Orientation Steerable Filters

In this paper, we study the characterization of multiple motions from the standpoint of orientation in spatiotemporal volume. Using the fact that multiple motions are equivalent to multiple planes in the derivative space or in the spectral domain, we apply a new 3D steerable filter for motion estimation. This new method is based on the decomposition of the sphere with a set of overlapping basis...

Oceanographic images obtained from environmental satellites by a wide range of sensors allow characterizing natural phenomena through different physical measurements. For instance Sea Surface Temperature (SST) images, altimetry data and ocean color data can be used for characterizing currents and vortex structures in the ocean. The purpose of this thesis is to derive a relatively complete frame...

Compare sequence of joint motion and muscle electromyography between low drive and high drive soccer instep kick

The purpose of this study was to examine the difference between two types of the soccer instep kick in temporal sequence of motion and muscle electromyography, during forward swing phase of the kick. Ten elite soccer players, volunteered as subjects in the study. To culculate the kinematics data, we used DLT method with two video camera that filmed five markers fixed on anatomical points o...

This new method is based on the decomposition of the sphere with a set of overlapping basis filters in the feature...
